Located at the City Government Center, the new $25,000,000 Santa
Maria Public Library includes a new two-story 60,821 s.f. library,
a two-story parking structure, relocation of the existing two-story historic
Recreation and Parks Department Building along with site demolition and
development.

Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce

This 6,600 s.f. facility, organized around a main lobby with a 22 foot high barrel
vaulted ceiling, has a main boardroom for meetings, seminars, and catered events.
The exterior is designed to fit in with its historic neighboring building circa 1926.

Santa Maria Fire Station #1
City of Santa Maria
A 7,068 sq. ft. fire station that includes three (3) two engine deep
apparatus bays, living quarters, kitchen/dining area, living area, turn-out
gear storage lockers, a dispatch center, and associated site development.
This project included the complete integration of the electrical and computer aided
dispatch systems. The schematic design of this facility included the future
fire department administrative offices and emergency operations center.

Southeast Community Services Center
Kern County Superintendent of Schools
This two story state of the art 63,250 square foot facility houses multiple
County and State agencies providing services related to the Federal “One Stop”
welfare to work program. The agencies include the County Mental Health Department,
Employee Training Resource, California Child Care Services, Employment Development
Department, County of Kern and Kern County Superintendent of Schools. The building
is organized around a cylindrical central core with offset office wings aligned
with the core’s center. The facility also includes a job/career resource center,
computer lab, and classroom space which all provide educational support for the
community. The central core houses the building’s primary entrance,
writing/reception area, vertical circulation, children’s daycare room, restrooms,
and a large multi-use space radiates from the central core to an exterior patio
and amphitheater designed to accommodate a variety of activities including public
presentations, musical performances, and graduation ceremonies.

Juvenile Justice Center

Bakersfield, CA
A 72,000 sq. ft. justice center including security courtrooms, holding
cells, secure interview rooms, closed circuit television, monitoring
devices and secure judges' parking.

Bakersfield, CA
The 36,000 sq. ft. "south wing" addition houses the City of
Bakersfield Building Department, Planning Department and Engineering.
A full basement was included for storage and mechanical uses.

County of Kern
Bakersfield, CA
This 1991 Golden Empire Chapter Honor Award (Excellence in Architectural
Design) winning project encompassed the interior redesign of this
historical government facility. The project scope included the facilitation
of circulation, greater user comfort, incorporation of new computer
technology, handicap access and seismic retrofit. This was all
accomplished while maintaining the integrity of the historical
context.
